Numerology FAQ’s: Can you “cure” your address?

Apartment life

In recent years, I have lived in several different apartments.  If you live in a multi-story apartment or condo building, you have probably encountered your share of noises from your neighbors.  While you have to put up with the day-to-day sounds of heavy-footed upstairs neighbors, running youngsters, or late-night bedroom escapades, sometimes it can be too much.

Additionally, you might have to put up with the energy of previous residents who occupied your apartment.  Or the location of your condo may be in an odd part of the building.  Not every location is perfect.

After moving back to my hometown to care for my aging father, I rented a garden (aka basement) apartment because it was one of the few complexes that allowed pets. The apartment layout was weird, with a narrow-shaped kitchen designed to make room for the community laundry room right outside the door to my apartment.  As a result, I had a lot of comings and goings right outside my door as my neighbors did their laundry.

Whether you are experiencing noisy neighbors or feeling uncomfortable in your own home, is there a way to shift the energy by using numerology?

One day, it occurred to me that the number on the door to my apartment may be related to the vibration of my home.  I started experimenting with changing my home's vibration and found distinct changes.

Here are a few steps to see if changing your home's numeric vibration results in any tangible changes in your home life.

What is the number on your door or mailbox?

The number on your door or mailbox is the numeric vibration of your home.  In my experience, I did not have to add in the numerology of the street name or direction.  For instance, if your address is 601 124th St. SW, you would just use the "601" as your number: 6+0+1 = 7 would be your number.  If you live in apartment "13 B", you will use the numbers AND the number assigned to the letter on your door.  Since "B" is a 2, the address would add up to  1+3+2 = 6.

The number of the door on my basement apartment was "201", which added up to 2+0+1 = 3.  The number 3 isn't a bad vibration, and it usually indicates communication like talking, texting, emails, etc. But it can also be a very distracting number when you have information coming at you from your daily Gmail account and newsfeed, as well as hearing all of your neighbors' noises and laundry routines.  I found myself very unproductive, and it wasn't easy to focus on finishing my work – which is not good, especially if you are trying to run your freelance writing business out of your home.

So, I used numerology. I decided to change my "3" to an "8"—the number of manifesting, money, power, and influence. It's not that I wanted to eliminate my ability to communicate; I just wanted to be able to manifest more. Who doesn't?

BEFORE: 201

AFTER: J 201 M

I decided to add my initials to the number on my door.  I bought two wooden letters at a craft store to represent my initials.  I added my first initial, "J," is a 1, and my last initial, "M," is a 4, so my new address is 1+2+0+1+4 = 8.  It was decorative, and there were no complaints from the management.  Easy peasy.

Quieting Noisy Neighbors

Sometimes, you might be OK with your home's vibration, but your upstairs neighbors might drive you crazy. Some people are just noisier than others, rising above what could be considered "normal" sounds of daily life. In apartments, I have had neighbors with screaming kids, screaming adult sexual partners (at 2 a.m.), heavy-footed walkers, 4 a.m. loads of laundry, excruciatingly loud TVs and speakers—the list goes on.

I did my due diligence and filed complaints with The Management, but I found that neighbors usually will not change their behavior.

In 2 of 3 cases, my noisy neighbors' addresses were 203 = 2+0+3 = 5.  The number 5 is the most chaotic and unstable number, seeming to magnetize noisy people to that address.

So, what could I do that a) did not violate their personal property, b) I could do it secretly, and c) caused no harm to them – or me?

I concluded that the OUTSIDE of their door was not theirs but belonged to The Management of the building.

So, I used Post-it notes.  I could stick small, tiny pieces of adhesive paper behind their address without my neighbors or The Management noticing.

I decided that changing their address to "7" would be good since 7 is the number of introspection and quietness. It is a vibration of turning inward instead of expressing outward. All I had to do was add a "2" to their current address and see what happened.

So, I wrote a "2" on a small Post-it note and placed it behind the placard on their door.  (You might have to be creative, especially if they have individual numbers vs. a flat placard with numbers printed on it.  Use your judgment.)

Oddly enough, it worked.  I am not saying my neighbors' homes turned into a quiet meditation center, but it calmed down.  In one instance, a young family with rambunctious children moved out a month later to a townhome where they had more room to roam.  In their place, a young, quiet woman moved into that apartment with a sweet dog who used to bark on rare occasions.

In the second instance, my upstairs neighbor stopped seeing her boyfriend, so I did not have to put up with her late-night bedroom antics.

Did numerology "cure" this situation?  Or was it coincidental?  I'm not sure, but my life improved, whatever the reason.

Use the number 4 to focus

I also wanted to improve my productivity in my home office.  I had already changed the number on my door to an "8", and now I wanted to ensure I had good work routines.  What number would help me?

I decided that the number 4—rules, stability, order—is good for routines. At the art store, where I got the "J" and "M" for my front door, I also got a wooden "4" to adhere to my office door. The total cost was about $5.

I could sense a more grounded energy in my office. I was more productive, receiving some very intense and lucrative freelance writing assignments.  It aligned well with the "8" on my front door.

Business addresses

If you have a business, you want to align your address with your business goals.  In general, you probably want to have an “8” in the address - or the address totals to 8 - since that is the number for manifesting money, power, and influence.

Tips for what you can do

  1. Determine your current address number.   What does your current address add up to, and how is that manifesting in your home, office, business, or other location? What kind of energy do you want to have?   See the chart above for what might be best for your home or business.

  2. Be creative.  Be creative with letters or artwork for your home, office or cubicle.

  3. Correct your Business / Office / Cubicle Address.  If you have a home-based business, put a number on your office door (if you have one) of what you want your business to manifest.   If you have an employer, consider putting your desired numbers or letters on your door or cubicle of what you want to manifest.

  4. Changing others' addresses. This tricky because you do not want to interfere with other people's free will. If an address is in a common area, like an apartment building, you might be able to do it. Or, you can get their permission and collaborate on the best numbers for each of you. I changed address numbers out of desperation and a need for sleep. Remember, the goal is to do no harm to yourself or others!

The important thing to know is that you do not have to live with the address you were given.  You can change your address and be creative!
